"Several years ago I had occasion to travel long distance on a 747. Out of curiosity, I used a portable relative humidity meter to give me a clue as to what was happening, as my hair went absolutely wild. The lower limit of my meter was two percent relative humidity. And that is what it read. I have since been advised that pilots on such aircraft are required to drink water in specific minimum quantities at regular and specific intervals."
