Summary:

The Ebac CD60 is a versatile workhorse of a dehumidifier designed to eliminate high humidity problems in harsh environments. Excess humidity in your crawl space, basement, warehouse, office, factory, or shop results in corrosion, mold growth, and rotting and can damage your belongings. The impressive CD60 dehumidifier can be moved from site to site or can be permanently mounted and ducted (optional accessory) to suit a variety of applications. These dehumidifiers will efficiently remove more than fifty-five pints of airborne water vapor per day under standard conditions (80 F, 60%RH), and can exceed 15 gallons (240 pints) per day under the extreme conditions found in problem environments. The hours run meter and extra long power cord on these industrial dehumidifiers are some of the extras that make it a must for moisture removal at remote job sites. Set-up and operation is a cinch with its built-in condensate pump and supplied 25 feet of drainage hose as well as an adjustable humidistat to permanently control the humidity in a space. We are happy to see this Ebac model as well built with an all galvanized interior, epoxy coating finish for ultimate protection and constructed of a welded and galvanized steel chassis. In case you find the operating conditions are consistently below 59 degrees and much lower the CD60 will every 55 minutes turn on its “Hot Gas” defrost mode whereby any ice will be melted in a matter of minutes so it can commence pulling out more moisture for the next 55 minute period. Most of your dehumidifiers cannot do this and at most will shut the compressor off to prevent ice. While this happens the fan will run to warm up the coils before turning the compressor back on to continue the dehumidification process. However, this passive defrost does not happen in minutes as in the “Hot Gas” defrost mode on the Ebac so little dehumidifying will occur during these extended defrosting periods. After much scrutiny we were able to find a minor shortcoming for the CD60, which was that at 80 pounds and no casters or easy grip carrying handles, it is not the easiest of dehumidifiers to have to re-locate. However, it is best used as a permanent stand alone solution to a humidity problem by removing moisture from the air to reduce the humidity to acceptable levels and maintain it on a day in and day out basis.
