Dear Everyone,

Having just passed the seventh rainy weekend in a row here in New England, we are all in despair, and another wet weekend is on its way. My husband and I have been hard at work on our new summer home putting everything in place for the sunny days we keep on thinking will be here soon. This has given me some unexpected extra time to test out our products. This weekend, our master bedroom made its debut.

Having slept on several mattresses, we have come down firmly in favor of the Royal Pedic mattress, which is sadly increasing in price by up to 15% on June 1st 2005. So if you have been sitting on the fence about purchasing this healthy mattress, now is the time to act!

We put a white cloud silk duvet cover on a light weight Euphoria wool comforter which gives an unbelievable touch of luxury and is a winning combo in my book.

We have added many new products recently onto our website; so do not miss our new product round-up article below, on what I consider to be the best of the new offerings.

As promised, we have explained the TANCS breakthrough in steam cleaning more extensively in this issue. I have always considered steam cleaning to be a wonderful cleaning tool for all those who have to cope with the odors, mold, mildew, dust mites and dirt. A home cleaned by a steam cleaner always smells so fresh and clean and without all the supermarket chemical smells which I cannot abide. TANCs brings the Ladybug steam cleaning up to the level of EPA standards for chemical disinfectants but without chemicals. The potential applications in home and commercial use are numerous but as someone who deals with elderly pets and who has grandchildren who run around with constant runny noses and coughs, the sanitizing power of TANCS is extraordinarily appealing.

If you are starting to get pollen in your area, do not forget to vacuum out the area between your window and screens, which is a pollen collector. My husband throws open the windows and then wonders why he starts to sneeze. Better yet, keep those windows closed till the frost comes.

We put new products on our site all the time but it is sometimes difficult to find them. New and noteworthy this Spring are the following: A delightful 100% Organic Cotton Baby Blanket priced at $35 which I have given to the families of two newborns already, as a it makes a very acceptable gift. There are adult organic blankets so no need to feel left out.


Several new entrants into the home dehumidifier lineup this year. The Danby Silhouette for basements, which I have been trying out in my new summer home and it has been performing effectively and quietly. We also tested this machine for nearly a year under adverse conditions, so are confident to its durability.

There are several new dehumidifier models by Delonghi who always perform the quietist of all our home models. We have a 50 pint model with a convenient integrated pump and several other models for low temperature basements or general household use. In addition, there is another dehumidifier by Santa Fe for crawl spaces which we added at the end of last season that you might have missed.

It is a super performing dehumidifier and customers have given us very good reports as to its effectiveness – includes a Free humidistat after purchase!

It takes a lot for us to consider a new vacuum cleaner, but the Bosch Formula Series Electro Duo Plus Hepa canister vacuum got rave reviews by our in-house testers both for its zero emissions, usability and performance. It is a lot of vacuum cleaner for the money and we are excited about offering it to our customers.

Sebo Vacuums are betting on a completely new concept with the Sebo Felix Upright Vacuum series. Described as a canister on a stick, it is the ultimate in maneuverability and will appeal to those who are looking for a lightweight upright. It can go seamlessly from area rugs to bare floors with the flick of a wrist and packs a surprising amount of power. We will discuss these vacuum cleaners in more detail next newsletter but you can find our reviews on our website.

In general, we have been unimpressed with the past performance of portable air conditioners, which we think are better viewed as “Spot Coolers.” This year’s Portable Air Conditioner models by Royal Sovereign have taken a giant leap forward in cooling effectiveness with performance that is starting to approach that of a conventional window air conditioner.

Steam Cleaning - The New TANCS Process

The steam vapor system has always been used both to clean and sanitize a wide variety of surfaces in a single operation. And now it has been made even more effective with the innovative, patented “TANCS” addition to the LadyBug and LadyBugXL steam cleaner line. It is now the ultimate microbe killer – a chemical free disinfectant. These units with the “TANCS” system installed are unique because they are the only vapor steam units to have an EPA Establishment Number registering them as an official disinfectant device that can disinfect without the use of chemicals. With TANCS you can create a more pathogen* free home without using harmful chemicals (a pathogen refers to any microbes that can make you sick).

With this new process, the molecular shapes are restructured and the minerals that are present in regular tap or well water are being so highly activated by the heat that they act like microscopic cleaning “bombs”.
