Late June, 2001
Dear
Everyone,
I
am writing this on the eve of a trip to England to help my sister choose
a nursing home for my mother. It is the kind of trip where I know I will
use a lot of Kleenex. Yet it brings home just how precious good health
is- and how much many of us take it for granted.
It seems a long time ago that I used to wake up with raging
headaches year in year out, secretly wondering if I was just neurotic
or what. And then to find out I was allergic to my house! So now, different
house, no headaches and the memory of constant headaches is in the distant
past.. How quickly we forget.
Every time one of you writes and lets us know that our products
have helped you, we chalk it up as a victory for health. Enjoy it while
you have it and do not give up the quest.
One day, old age will overtake us all. I know that, but
till then I believe we all have a right to good health. I have a wonderful
new primary care doctor. She hounds me to take good care of myself as
she knows I can work too hard and forget. But tonight as I write this
I cannot forget. I will see in England elderly parents who came from another
generation who did not know the meaning of preventative health. We all
here in America have no such excuse. Take good care of yourselves
do
not trash your health.
In
the meantime, love a little, laugh a little. My husband arrived in my
office the other evening in his business suit and proceeded to do a strip
tease in front of my staff, to my absolute horror until I realized he
had his tennis outfit on underneath. "Time to play!" said he
with a grin. I love him dearly even if he insists on throwing the windows
open in allergy season!
